About 57th Street Books
57th Street Books (est. 1983), the south side's neighborhood bookstore, carries a wide selection of general interest titles in a unique space, perfect for browsing. For more than 20 years we have been first stop for serious readers on the south Side of Chicago. Our extensive selection of fiction and non-fiction titles has been shaped by our customers in Hyde Park, Woodlawn, South Shore, Chatham, Kenwood and Oakland.

Famous for our mystery section, our Science Fiction, our cookbooks, and events, this bookstore is also your best bet on the South Side for cards, calendars, newspapers, and magazines.
Every Wednesday at 10:30am our staff has a story hour for children (and their caregivers). Our proximity to one of Chicago's nicest parks, the Museum of Science and Industry and 57th Street's child-friendly restaurants makes this a perfect first-stop for a weekday getaway for busy moms and dads no matter what the weather.
Feel free to call us at 773-684-1300. Our hours are 10-8, 7 days a week.
